this week was some serious miracles. on thursday --in weekly planning, the spirit had me so constrained!! i was so confused bc we didnt have a baptism planned and you know, its been like 3 weeks since i've had one so its about time. i looked at sister miller, shes so sweet to accept my will, and i told her--- WE NEED TO PLAN A BAPTISM. i cant go further with this until we plan it. SO, we did just that. we planned one of our investigators to just move his date up. so that was the plan, right?
SUNDAY roles around and Nick, comes up to me and says "sister ovard! i booked the font for sunday right after church! will that work with you???" ha ha ha ha ha ha .. will that work for us i said... WE WOULD DROP ANYTHING FOR THAT COVENANT!!!!! HOLLAR to the spirit. i believe in it!
my birthday was amazing. one i will cherish forrrreeevvveeerrrrr. i have been focusing a lot on sacrifice (i'll get to that point later) and so i chose to not to open any mail other than on P-day.. so i may or may not have opened it early and celebrated last week. but MAN, how grateful i am for you guys!!!!!!!! YOU ARE SO KIND. i loved it all. thank you. the miracles were mighty that day.
President Burt asked me to train on Living the Law of Sacrifice to Baptize to all the missionaries on the lower main land. it was the neatest and most defining experiences of my life. i had so many thoughts running through my mind. i prayed with my prayer journal and let the spirit guide what i needed to do. Heavenly Father told me i need to use the book of mormon in all that i talk about. i was confused, because i didn't know how to put that into it all. but i trusted, and i said ok i will open my book of mormon up tomorrow and i will read until i find something!!! the next morning, i sat down ready to study and have my prayers answered. when i turned to Alma 13, where i already was in the book of mormon, and started reading. now, this is when alma and amulek are a bomb diggity companionship and they go out and are teaching and people are listening to them! so the time was right to give people the priesthood because of their exceeding FAITH. he goes on to tell them of how good they are for choosing this path. of the holy calling which they will hold that is a PRIVLEDGE. that is "without a beginning or end--" that because of their faith and repentance, and their righteousness before God, they choosing to work righteousness rather than perish" and they were called to this holy order. and it humbled them... and it brought them to look forward to Christ... and to NEVER PUT THE BOOK OF MORMON DOWN OR IT WILL BE TO YOUR DESTRUCTION! now, this is for all of us... all of us have a holy calling. but we cannot do it without the book of mormon. we cannot learn to baptize or learn to sacrifice without the book of mormon.
family, the reason i baptize people is because of the book of mormon. i have gained courage to go places i really dont want to go just like Alma going to Ammonihah.. i have learned to baptize everyone because i care to serve them because of King Benjamin. i have learned to follow the Spirit in ALL things because of Moroni. they are my heros. they are the men i WANT! i challenged them all to write down a sacrifice they can make. not one at home, we are all done with that. we're HERE living in the moment now. a sacrifice that might be something scary every day.. something that brings you out of your comfort zone. it was very powerful. and i felt the power of god witness to me of the things being said were true. i know they are. i know they are because i didnt know the power of the book of mormon before my mission and how it brought me an abiding trust in god. i didnt know JESUS before my mission! now i do. because of this book. READ IT. but most importantly, APPLY IT. after my training, president burt actually trained on the book of mormon. how nuts is that???! ITS REALLY IMPORTANT OBVI!
funny stories--- we were teaching this cool 1st nations guy. he committed to baptism and to come to church when he texted us that morning he said "is it cool if my wife comes?" hahhhaahaha hey for sure.. AT THE FAMILY WARD!!!!!!!!! lol. they came anyways and now they both have baptism dates :)
we were mall contacting and i asked a lady what this poopery spray was........... hahaha.. um.. how do i even relate that to God. AND HOW WAS I SUPPOSE TO KNOW THEY HAD POOP SPRAY???????????? goodness. you'd think i got smarter from the Italy experience ;)
fam- the church is true. and by that, i mean the gospel of jesus christ. faith, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the holy ghost, and enduring that commitment. i challenge you all the have your own baptism on the forefront of your mind. life will be easier if we remember the covenants we made. i know thats true because i've seen it! remember, IM 20! and only 361 more days till the next birthday :) xoxo
