what a beautiful time. I am so grateful for TODAY! (for many reasons) lets start at the most important one. because of today, our Savior lives in each of us. I got to attend a Baptist good Friday ceremony with some of our friends. I went in completely open minded. I sat down and I felt the light of Christ within them all. do you know that its not just US that believe so strongly in Christ? you aren't alone! in fact, some are stronger than WE ARE. and I got to learn from that experience. Make no mistake: Jesus can descend from the cross and save himself at any moment. it isn't the nails that keep him there. What keeps him there is what place him there. his passion to do the will of his father, and his love for sinners like you and me. FOCUS on him, who went through the blood and sacrifice for us. I have never felt closer to my brother, my savior, my lord, Jesus Christ. "we all carry in our pockets his very nails" never forget him.
about 2 weeks ago sister Ritchie and I were driving to an appointment. just as we pulled out we saw a man so we pulled over and started chatting with him. his name was Derek. so from there, we had some Derek Jeter jokes and some laughs going on. we got his number and ended up meeting him again not knowing how open he is to hearing about the gospel! we passed him over to the elders and he now has a baptism date and his two sons have come to church with him the past 2 weeks. in his words to us yesterday after conference, "mission accomplished. you did what you came here to do for me!" all because of a little "hello!" as we pulled over to talk to him. our hearts rejoiced and we sang praises to our Lord all night long.
by small and simple things are great things brought to pass :)
our best friend ASHLEY is getting baptized on Thursday!!!!! she is a miracle. one of the biggest. she is a member referral from her boyfriend. usually people get baptized through faith, but this woman knows her stuff. you should see her when we go over there, she has her books all layed out and shes read her homework and she just PREACHES!!!!! im like girl, u wear the dang badge!!!!!!!! shes seriously amazing. she asked me to sing amazing grace for her baptism. soo ya'll can pray for me.
we go to a bible study on sunday nights with like 8 girls that are Baptist. its been the neatest thing to see young girls like me, STUDY. we read, and we talk for about an hour. its something I want to do when I am home. like.. who does that? we came to the conclusion last night that you can't go through Corinthians and now say "dang paul!" hahah also, we were reading in Matthew 14 and the insights were so amazing that dawned on me. have you ever thought about the wind and waves as those "what if's" in life?? have you ever thought that maybe it wasn't just Peter getting distracted but just THINKING and having his attitude that something wrong COULD happen?? we have nothing to fear. we must be of good cheer all the time! it starts within us. don't think about the waves. don't THINK about what could happen if something happen. HAVE COMPLETE FAITH! remember the blood that was shed for you? Jesus is real.
I'm so grateful for this time to be a missionary. it is a time I feel, for complete repentance to occur. im changing, im changing so much. sister Ritchie and I reflected the other night about what has changed within us. I can honestly say, when I see pictures of me at home I don't know who I am. I don't recognize "aynsley". my nature has been changed and is continually changing. I am humbled to know that I am a daughter of a loving father in heaven. my brother, is jesus Christ. my family is all those around me that I spend every second with. and this is what makes me happy. im focusing on eyes that see and ears that hear so this gospel can truly become music to my ears.
oh, and let me apologize for conference being completely ON MARRIAGE. I've been praying for a month now about what questions I can have to seek revelation for at conference.. one being about MARRIAGE. so, sorry. god was speaking to me for 2 days. what a beautiful conference session!!! i'll write you all my thoughts because that's for a different story :)
xoxo, sister ovard
1. a really huge black guy we met after we finished a lesson at starbucks. his hand was the size of my FACE.
2. BIBLE study with our girls... neatest experience. sometimes we feel like Samuel up on a wall preaching.
3. ya'll keep me going... I love you!!
DUDE I FORGOT THE BIGGEST MIRACLE OF ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Catherine, our recent convert, has a nephew that we've been seeing and hes 23 and DOESNT TALK AT ALL. like we don't even know if he can talk. but over the past 2 weeks we've been talking to him hes said a matter of 2 sentances. and hes beginning to LIGHTEN UP!!!!!!!!!! seriously, the miracles. im tellin ya. its insane how the gospel just changes people.
Things that make me smile bigger than a love text ;)
