what an intense week! I could barely keep up. we have found so many opportunities this week to serve! I mentioned last week we would be getting into the community and doing volunteer work. so on Saturday, we went and helped out with a fundraiser for a suffering baby here in town. she was born early. we served hamburgers and hot dogs. it was INCREDIBLE! I think I knew everyone that came to get one... and they were all so impressed that we were helping out in the community! (best part about being in a small community like santa clara.. I know people by name;) ) we were put with a cute girl named Sarah to serve the burgers. we clicked right as we started talking! of course, we don't proselyte while doing it. but when it comes up, we talk! and she asked so many questions! turns out, she wants to meet up again! so we are meeting up with her Wednesday!
from the volunteer work we did, we went home for Sis Cendredas 12 week. we studied and got ready to go back out. I went to the washroom before leaving and noticed water on the ground.... YES... our house FLOODED! we were seeing so many incredible miracles satan did everything he could to TRY and get us down! but hey, such a blessing.. SLEEP OVER WITH SISTER RITCHIE AND SISTER JOHNSON! get thee hence, satan. we're having too much fun for you. so there you have it, out of our house for this week and living with the other sisters in the other area.. about 15 min away from where we live.
about two days later...we were going to dinner at a members home last night with Kristine, I pulled over to the side of the road because it was the street called "Heather" so of course, I had to take a picture. you're cute momma. it was all for you! as we were taking the pictures, I looked behind us and saw a cute girl and her mom walking... turns out.. IT WAS SARAH! holy moly we couldn't believe it! of all the places to see her, we run into her by her house. heavenly father is SO real. we talked and talked, her mom loves us! we told her about a pumpkin carving activity the YSA is having and she is going to go!! all because we found different ways to serve.. the lord answered our prayers! we got ready to get back into the car and to the members home when OUR CAR WOULDN'T START!!!!!! c'mon satan.. can you just give up already? we walked to there house for dinner and got it to start after wards. haha nothing can stop this work! not even if you're homeless with no car ;)
on Thursday, we were walking around and basically lointering Sidney. I felt we should go to this skate park. it was dark, and it just seemed sketchy, but of course I went with the prompting I had. we went and there was one man and he was walking away from the park. so I was walking like grandpa does in Disneyland.. ;) I was yelling "hey!!! hi! hello! sir! hi!" it took about 8 times until he looked.. we got talking, again, YSA age.. and he began to tell us how he's been looking for a social atmosphere!!! WHAT WHAT!? we talked and talked and it was such an incredible miracle. we also invited him to the YSA pumpkin carving activity!
the missionaries in the ward sang in church this week. we sang "dear to the heart of the shepard" I think I was a little over bearing... that Nauvoo audition came out of me again for the win. this time, no one was judging me. so I made it. also, teaching relief society on the spot is actually the coolest thing. oh, and 3 girls from the ward are preparing for missions! so we are teaching mission prep! I LOVE MY CALLING!
those are just a few of the miracles this week. I feel changed, I feel completely dependent on my Savior. I feel comforted. our Savior is real. each time I read my book of Mormon I feel close to him. I feel him beside me, I feel him caring for my just like my older brothers would. he is my older brother, the one who made it possible for each of us to return to our heavenly father. the one who literally gives me strength every second of every day. I want you all to know how grateful I am for my sweet companion, Sister Cendreda, who teaches me things that I don't even think about. I love each of you. I love this gospel. and I love that it changes, and molds us to become our full potential. my prayer, is that each of you, listen to president uchtdorf, live this gospel joyfully. put a smile on your face, fake it if you have to, until its real. I have felt your prayers, I feel each of you around me. you are my angels, round about me, bearing me up. keep doing great things! I LOVE YOU! MUAH
xoxo, sis ovard
